The main incredients for a pizza, 3 things, the dough, the SAUCE and the cheese.

Why then do most pizza makers skimp and barely use any sauce???

I just dont get it, pizza is almost all profit, give me some sauce when I ask for it....

I called in a pizza last week and for the one millionth time I asked for extra sauce in my order, the reason being they just don't give you any sauce most of the time....and once again, I get the pizza and there's no extra sauce, it's like a joke they play with me, I ask for it, I even mention it right as I hang up "umm that's EXTRA SAUCE right" as I'm about to hang up.

So I called the guy back and asked him why he didn't give me extra sauce, he gives me some story and offers me a free credit ...so today i go back to get my pizza, and once again I ask for extra sauce please,,,,

I watch the girl make my pizza, and wouldn't you know it, she gives me one large spoon full of sauce that barely covers the shell....So I asked her " did you give me extra sauce"? and the goofball goes back and gets the pizza to give me some sauce, what does it take to get one of these pizza joints to give me sauce on my pizza?

Somehow the translation gets lost somewhere after they throw that damn pizza shell in the air and grab the sauce, they forget 80% of the time, no lie.

That's crazy. Half the time I order I have to request light sauce as they pile it on til no end. Did you know that the Italians invented pizza? In Italy, they put cheese on the pizza and then the sauce. In America, they put the sauce on and then the cheese. I finally found a place by me that does cheese first sauce second, but they charge outrageous prices. One small pizza is like 20 bucks, but its huge and even a big eater like me can only handle 2 slices per sitting, if that. These pizzas are that huge, thick as hell too. Tastes so good though.

Do you order from restaurants or pizza parlors/commercial chains? What did you get on it toppings wise?

Sauce is a relatively small cost on the pizza. I think where most shops go wrong is that they skimp on everything because "it all adds up you know".

I used to work with a lady whose dad owned a sandwich shop. He put an extra amount of seasonings in things like egg salad or other ingredients and I could sure tell the difference. How much did that extra amount cost? A fraction of a penny but it sure got me going back and ordering sandwiches.

You would never find Subway or some other large sandwich chain doing this. I've seen their books and they have to account for every penny.

my fav pizza place

Our dough is made fresh each morning and is always the same. Our flour uses only the best grains available with no chemicals or additives. We load every pie with premium Wisconsin cheese. Our tomatoes come from Italy’s Agro Nocerine Sarnese region, and we use only the finest meats and vegetables cut fresh daily to generously top a wide variety of Pizzas.

These are 3 inch high deep dish Chicago style pizzas.
1 small with pepperoni runs a little over 15 bucks, but damn good and worth it.

I ask for extra sauce no matter where it is, this particular stiff job was Papa Johns....I like the idea of sauce second:103631605

When i was very young we use to get this meatsauce pizza down Little Italy it was killer.

Had a pizza from Grotto's Pizza down the beach saturday night and that was excellent....never heard of it before.

Ha...yeah at Papa Johns I notice they have a sign saying if they don't open the pizza and show it to you it's free also....and they've done this several times too, not showed me it....I don't have the balls to say hey you owe me one for that,lol...Cosmo Kramer would though.

I can't say I ever got a pizza sheet in with mine....geez are you serious?

I've had this battle over pizza sauce for 15 years now Rob, it's a losing battle...Domino's is pretty good about getting it right....the corner pizza shops are even worse about it...they put next to NO sauce on their pizza...I mean you lift up the cheese and you see nothing.

I knew it! I asked for extra sauce at Papa John's too because they don't give enough. I also asked for extra over the phone and when I got it home it didn't have much on it. I called down to the store and asked for some coupons.

This is all too true for me and I'm not a sauce fan! I like pizza better with less sauce, BUT THE SAME THING HAS BEEN HAPPENING TO ME!!

It is a conspiracy to piss us all off:

I LOVE LOVE LOVE my pizzas made with all the toppings (except cheese) right on top of the sauce and the cheese on top of everything. Dough, sauce, toppings then the CHEESE and THEN EXTRA cheese!

No go. Everyone says, 'sure...we'll get that right out just like you want!'

Nope. 1 in 5 is that way.

IT PISSES ME OFF!!!

By the way, try a pizza with sauce then toppings then cheese and then extra cheese some time! man, I think it's great! Tell them you want enough cheese on top of everything that when the pizza is done cooking you still can't see any of the other toppings showing through.....

Anyway, this thread just makes me WANT SOME PIZZA!!!

that is amazing guys...I thought it was just me....the ultimate was yesterday when I watched the girl take my order, I even reminded her at the end of the porder 'extra sauce', I was in person, two minutes later I watch her her give me the normal portion of sauce...

You got to end up acting like a jerk to get a pizza made the way you want, you would think they weren't making any profit on them.

LOL! Journey, the problem is that the people we are dealing with.....they aren't the ones making a profit from the sale.

That could be the problem.

You could be on the money with that comment...the workers don't care I suppose....6 bucks and hour is the same with or without sauce lol.

One other key here, if you're gonna complain about someone making your food you better do it IN PERSON, or else who knows what they might do to it...

I never complain over the phone, I don't want anyone messing with my food....can you imagine the things we've eaten over the years :icon_conf

J-man why don't you order a side of marinara, like they give you with mozz sticks? They might charge you like 50 cents, but this is obviously an important issue with you.
You said you like the idea of cheese, then sauce. Just order a side of marinara sauce and pour it on top of your pizza.
Problem solved.
